since Jigga's mighty performance at Glasto on Saturday - the MTV BASE team have been debating whether his performance was truly as sick as the critics said or just average for all us hip hop heads.

Yes he silenced the critics (in particluar Noel Gallagher - love the way Jay Z pronounces his name as "NO- EL" - LOL) with a 2 finger salute in the form of his very own rendition of Wonderwall - but was that enough to say this was truly Jigga at his best???

I think I have seen Jay Z put in a better performance than what I saw on Saturday - e.g. his stonking appearance at the Prince's Trust with Beyonce years ago....

but yes - he did rep fully for our hip hop culture - that cannot be denied!

New Year in ATL.....

Happy new year everyone! I hope you had a fab Christmas & brought in the New year in style with your family or loved ones. May 2008 be the year that you fulfill your dreams and aspirations.

Christmas for me was a family affair - I ate the usual – goose (The family hates turkey!!),

sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes, Christmas pud and drank lots and lots of sherry a-la- Dot Cotton. If you haven't tried it, you best get to know....sherry is a serious tipple and should be sipped with your little finger in the air - GANGSTA!!

With a full and super fat belly it was time to prepare for my New Year in Atlanta - the home of Dr. Martin Luther King JR (R.I.P.) , chicken & waffles (the pancake type - not potato) and of course the creme de la creme of hip hop & RnB - Usher, Ludacris, TLC, Outkast, Jermaine Dupri ...
I've lived in L.A before so was quite accustomed to the U.S. way of life, but ATL still managed to surprise me with its rather erm… "unique" culture....So here is my guide / observations of A – Town for those of you who haven't been:

ATL Airport
Ok, so I flew out on New Year's eve and was in a rush to go pick my girl Cathy up, as we of course were partying for New Years. After arriving at ATL Airport, collecting my luggage and preparing to go pick up our hire car - I was stopped by some dude who asked me to check my luggage back in??!?!

Thinking that he was joking I smile and walk off, but he was serious?! Apparently you MUST get re- searched with all your belongings when you LEAVE the airport - as in all liquids, creams and anything else you bought in the airport (once you have already been searched in London before you get on the plane) are confiscated AGAIN! Do you know how vex I was? Especially as I bought some expensive cream at Heathrow - apparently they don't want you bringing in any of these potentially hazardous materials into the State. I just wish I was told that before...So, an hour after initially picking up my luggage I finally pick up my car! Sorry Cathy!!

"Making it rain"
- now call me naive but i thought the term "make it rain" was strictly reserved for a Fat Joe song

but after going to a Floyd Mayweather party in ATL and actually seeing the man himself "making it rain" by dashing $10,000 in $1 bills into the crowd, I realized that this was not just an urban myth! People actually DO carry on like that and women over there seem to love it! I couldn't believe it! Call me a feminist, but I personally find the whole concept incredibly patronizing & totally disrespectful to us females. I don't need some overpaid athelete with a super size ego throwing money at me like I'm begging – ya get me??!?! I think I take particular offense to this act, because the tradition actually originates in Nigeria, where money is given at weddings as a gift and showered at the married coupling while dancing. To adopt this tradition is one thing, but to turn it completely on it's head in such a disrespectful manner is another….

"Southern Hospitality"
Don't get me wrong, the people of ATL are super friendly, they always smile and greet you in passing. Thanks to all of you who looked after us while we were there...you know who you are....They are genuinely interested in you and your foreign background and none of the clubs we went to had any bad vibes or attitude. Even the guy who told me that I spoke good English was very polite ?!?! (yep - you read correctly - he didn't clock that London was in England or where the language came from!).

Anyways - some dude rocked up to the bar in some stunners, a fur coat and a diamond encrusted pimp cup and asked the bar guy to put some lemonade in it….! Easy!!?!?!?

This video is truly shocking! It is an excerpt from a VH1 show that was broadcast in America last night called "The Last Days of Lisa LEFT EYE Lopes". I guess she was shooting a documentary during her spritiual trip in Honduras - if you watch till the end - you will see a few seconds of the fatal crash!

what has happened to Lady Sov? This video was taken at recent American gig - where she literally has a breakdown on stage. She calls off the show whilst on stage and starts talking about her depression, her self-inflicted cuts, and how broke she is that she can't even afford to pay the rent!

When she came into BASE last year - she didn't seem quite right then - I assumed it was down to her age, and maybe it was just immaturity that made it difficult for her to get used to her sudden fame Stateside.

Maybe I was a little harsh to judge her at the time - but it really looks like she's got some issues....let's hope she gets them sorted!

Hi guys , I'm sorry if I worried anyone with the blog I wrote yesterday . I was feeling pretty sorry for myself , I've been reading all your comments and they have made me realise there is more to life than being thin ! So thank you . I think I was just having a hard time last week . After reading cheryl tweedys comments branding me a "chick with a dick". I was feeling pretty low and aswell as that, some of you might know I launched my clothing line for new look last tuesday , and seeing my picture in so many newspapers next to kate moss' , made me feel grotesque momentarily . I know its a silly way to feel and I am incredibly proud of myself and my achievements over the past year, there are so many good things about my life . I really am incredibly lucky . I guess it shows how much of an effect the media can have on us young ladies . As for the amy winehouse bit , someone sent me a link to a picture blog where there were some paparazzi shots of my brother and I , and there were hundreds of comments from mean sad people , saying I was a fat ugly bitch and how much better amy is than I . Usually I ignore these things , but in my heightened emotional state I let them get the better of me . My mum has come out here to keep me company and I feel much better now , I sha'nt be getting any surgery , instead I will be eating lots of bread and pasta and thinking about what to write about for the next album . I really am touched and was quite surprised at the reaction the blog received and it definitely has restored my faith in humanity . I know I've said bad things about people in the past , though the majority of them have been blown wayyyy out of proportion , but this i mean Cheryl if you're reading this , I may not be as pretty as you but at least I write and SING my own songs without the aid of autotune . I must say taking your clothes off , doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying , your mother must be so proud , stupid bitch .

I'm not particularly a fan of Lily, musically, but I do admire her for keeping it real, and flying the flag for normal shaped women everywhere....she represents your average girl and is an excellent role model in today's fickle and image-obsessed world!

As for Cheryl Tweedy / Cole - whatever the hell she wants to be called - she really needs to stop running her mouth! She really has no talent - apart from getting her tits out whenever possible and posing for ridiculously camp pictures with her "husband" Ashley Cole in OK! magazine - no pun intended! I'm with Lily on this one...

I am a huge Kelis fan - I love her ballsy style, her ridiculously SICK dress sense and her refusal to conform to the norm of African-American female artists ( no disrespect Beyonce and all the Beyonce clones out there) but I was a little worried that she and Nas ( arguably the best rapper alive) had agreed to take part in a warts'n' all reality tv show...

The fact this superstar couple are so credible is partly down to the mystique around them - they appear to be extremely private and do not court media attention like B & Jigga...so why would they destroy that and decide to "sell out" with a reality tv show.

This leaked clip is boring as hell - and I just hope, for their sakes, that it didn't make the final cut! Because if this is a taste of things to come....then it may be over for my favourite hip hop superstar couple.....:(

This clip is taken from a new ITV programme that is set to air next month. It features a presenter locked up in a room for 24hours with a random z-list celeb....guests include DAvid Gest, Lee Ryan, Stan Collymore and Bobby Brown.

Now I know Bobby is broke at the mo - hence , his current lawsuit against Whitney where he has the blinkin' cheek to sue her for spousal support!?!?! - but still, he must be desperate for cash to go on a show like this and let the world see exactly what he's like....

Shaggy came into the MTV Studios this week...he must be one of the most humble men in the game. When asked what his proudest achievement was - he said "selling diamond" - I knew he had gone multi-platinum - but to sell diamond? in this day and age? that is undoubtedly an impressive feat! 10 million + sales for "Hotshot" - that's a good look!

Mr. Shaggy - also had to choose his "Top 10 sexy ladies" for a feature I was producing....he cracked us up with stories about certain ladies in the music industry....he seemed to have scandalous stories about ALOT of the hottest r'n'b chicks...not that I could ever reveal what he said....but he had interesting opinions on Eve, Ciara and the PussyCat Dolls to name but a few....

you know i hate to say "i told you so"...but "i told you so" I predicted this talentless, dumb, ignorant bitch would get what she deserved when i heard that she had violated her probation. Yes the queen of trash - Paris "dirkhead" Hilton is going down for 45 days for driving while banned.

I really dislike this girl - not an opinion based on what i have read, but on me having the misfortune of briefing her when i worked on MTV's TRL way back in 2005. She was an obnoxious, rude, disprespectful little girl who thought her poopoo didn't stink! She refused to look you in the eye when she was spoken to - she would cater to her seriously inflated ego continously by staring at herself in ANY reflective surface - and she refused to answer a list of questions presented to her - including her shitter than shit sextape - need i remind homegirl - why her skinny, magre ass is famous nowadays?? if it weren't for her ho status - you think anyone would be interested in her....??!

homegirl really needs to recognise why she's "famous"....and stop taking herself so damn seriously!
